Why Should You Root? Advantages And Disadvantages Of Rooting Your Android Phone Or Tablet

Most of Android users would be asking themselves what is rooting and why should I root, in this post am going to be discussing on Advantages and Disadvantages of Rooting An Android phone, before that we first have a basic understanding of rooting

What Is Rooting

Rooting is a process allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem. Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialised apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user.

I hope you were able to get a picture of what rooting your android phone or tablet can do for you.

Why Root My Android Phone Or Tablet

Like what was said above in the definition of Rooting we can see what you device will be able to do after rooting, it helps your Android phone or tablet attain privileged control and more…

Disadvantages of Rooting Your Android Phone Or Tablet

  • Viruses:  Phones and tablet too get virus. A common practice that people do with "rooted" phones is to flash their ROM's with custom programs. Whenever you make changes to the code of a software, you run the risk of introducing a virus. So your Android phone or tablet is at risk when you root you device.
  • Rooting Voids Your Android Phone And Tablet: Once your device is rooted, you can return it to the manufacturer or where you bought it from for services or complains. Once your device is rooted you are on your own.
  • Poor Performance: several users have noticed that when the root their Android phone or tablet it will reduce the speed of your devices (I know rooting your device means to make your device faster “yes”) but this are the complain.
  • Rooting involves the risk of "bricking" your phone-In essence, a "bricked" phone is no better than carrying around a brick in your pocket. The phone is dead when it has been "bricked."

Advantages Of Rooting Your Android Phone Or Tablet

Rooting has it own benefits on your Android phone or tablet...
  • Frees Memory: Rooting your Android Phone and tablet, you can move installed app from your Phone or tablet to your memory card SD. This helps you free space from your internal memory for additional files or apps.
  • Custom ROM’s: This is the most powerful feature of "rooted" phones. There are hundreds of custom ROM's that can do anything from speeding up the processing speed of your phone to changing the entire look and feel of your phone.
  • Running Special Application: Rooting your device allows you to install some apps that only work on rooted device, Superuser is an example of such and app that works only on rooted devices. This allows you control the apps that have access to the “root” system. Another popular application that "rooting" affords is the ability to tether a computer to your Android phone so that the computer can access the Internet using the phone's data connection. Another program can allow your Android to be used as a WiFi Hotspot without having to pay your provider for the feature.

My Final Conclusion

Rooting of your Android Phone or tablet is not a decision to be jumped (rushed) into. Though the allure of having an unlocked phone is powerful, having a "bricked" phone is, trust me, not very much fun.  So try to take time to think about before taking decision on what to do.
