How To Password Protect A Flash Drive Using TrueCrypt

Protect your flash drive helps protect your files to get exposed without your permission, incase you have searched or looked for a software that can do this and cannot find or it not for free, I just found a software that you can use which is not only free but can be easily used on your flash drive or hard disk. This software is called TrueCrypt.

TrueCrypt is a open source that can be easily used on your hardware and feel secure about such a device, I wont be able to tell you more about the software but a link is provided for you to verify more about the software you are about to use.

Procedures Of Installing And using TrueCrypt To Protect Your Flash Drive.

After you install TrueCrypt into your PC, you can drag the program folder which is not less than 8MB in size to the flash drive. Once moved to the flash drive you can now run TrueCrypt on any windows computer with a USB. Just open the folder and run the program.

With one caveat. Launching TrueCrypt on a PC where it has not been installed brings up a User Account Control message. If you're not logged on as an administrator, you'll need an administrator password to run the program.

  1. I recentlty discovered a good Freeware, it is called File Secure Free. It can password protect folder and does more than Truecrypt as it can password protect USB driver and external driver besides password protect folder and file.
